The Emily Cohen MacFarquhar '59 Internship for International Journalism
The Emily Cohen MacFarquhar '59 Internship for International Journalism has been established at Wellesley College to enable one or two students every year to spend the summer working in a journalistic capacity in a country outside the United States with which they have no family connection. Ideally, they will serve as interns in an overseas bureau of a US publication or in the office of a foreign newspaper. The chosen students must have demonstrated a commitment to journalism. The initial selection committee is composed of Wellesley alumnae who were close friends of Emily and have a diversity of experience in public life and journalism: Madeleine Albright '59 (former U.S. Secretary of State), Pamela Daniels '59 (former Class Dean, Wellesley College), Diane Ravitch '60 (New York University and the Brookings Institution) and Carla Anne Robbins '74 (Wall Street Journal). The first intern(s) will be selected during the 2001-02 academic year.
Contributions to the internship's endowment should be made payable to Wellesley College, marked "MacFarquhar Internship Fund", and sent to:
