Thailand: Pramotion
Thailand's prime minister, Mr Seni Pramoj, was replaced by his younger brother, Kukrit, last week after only a week in office. Seni lost a vote of confidence in the national assembly because he had advocated asking the Americans to withdraw their 25,000 troops and 350 planes in Thailand in 18 months' time. His brother advanced that deadline by six months, which is expected to extend his own term of office but not, perhaps, by that much. Local astrologers were predicting this week that the influential 62-year-old journalist-turned-politician would last three months.
